I have had the great pleasure of working with Eikund on creating this limited edition series of their iconic chair, Krysset.  Working with furniture has been on my mind for a while, I’ve just been waiting for the right company to do it with! Eikund and I have a similar approach to things; it’s a focus on quality rather than quantity. 

 

Creating art on a two dimensional canvas has been different, working with  the angles and balancing which parts are more important. I started out with a pallet of colors and a general idea of the outcome, but except for a few details that tie the series together, each chair is unique. I started out with a spray box, filled the sides with a balanced mix of colors, and put together the final details with pens and smaller markers. 

 

Krysset was designed by Fredrik Kayser in 1955, with its distinguished cross- legged expression it is a Norwegian design icon. I am happy I got the opportunity to bring a bit of edge to these design classics and, in a way  honor their once pioneering nature.
